HOW TO GET TO THIS MAINE ISLAND
Given its location off Maine’s coast, the only way to get to Monhegan Island is by boat. You can take your own boat over, but you’ll need to contact the harbor master. The most common way to reach Monhegan island is by ferry.
While three ferry ports take visitors over, the best option for guests at our property is Balmy Day Cruises. This charter offers daily tripsfrom Memorial Day to Columbus Day and departs from Boothbay Harbor’s Pier 8 at 9:30 a.m. This is a passenger-only trip, but parking is available at the port.
You will need to book each leg of the journey separately. A great addition to your trip is the half-hour cruise around the island, which starts at 2 p.m
A CHECKLIST OF ACTIVITIES TO ENJOY
Despite its small size, Monhegan Island is packed with charm and adventure. There are no paved roads or cars, meaning the best transportation mode is your two feet or a bike.
Take in the island’s beauty on the trails that wind their way throughout the island. There are nine miles worth of paths to explore. Stay above the high tide line if you find yourself on the headlands side.
